Most people never heard of Florida Gulf Coast, the team from Fort Meyers Florida whose campus looks like a vacation get-a-way spot. They are making history in March-Madness and the team is advancing to the Sweet 16. One play named Bernard Thompson, said it best, “Dunk City is coming to Arlington, so everybody be ready.”

Florida Gulf Coast is going to Arlington to play in the Sweet 16 and for head coach Andy Enfield, this is not a dream come true. The coach believes in his guys and he thinks the team can beat just about anyone.  After last nights game Enfield said; “I don’t like to slow the ball down. I like to let our guys play.”

Playing is just what Florida Gulf Coast has done. They have recorded major upset after major upset thus far in March Madness. The team looks like a well oiled machine and they just might keep surprising everyone. Nobody picked them to come this far in the tournament.

The magic of this team could be the way coach Enfield gives his players the freedom to move around. It doesn’t look like he restricts his offense and he says; “I think it’s extremely difficult to guard an offense when players have freedom and they can play within a system.”

It is going to be very interesting to see what Florida Gulf Coast does in the Sweet 16. People have taken notice and it is time for the other teams left in the tournament to take notice too. Florida Gulf Coast could have a couple of more surprises left in store for the world to see. I wouldn’t count them out just yet.
