The Yankess lost one of their great all time players when Derek Jeter went down to a broken ankle. After 158 games in post season play, the Yankees will have to continue without their inspirational team captain who will be watching from the dugout or somewhere other than on the field. The Yankees battled tough with the Detroit Tigers and lost the game in extra innings. The Yankees trailed all night long until the team showed they cold play catch-up baseball via the long ball.
Now that Jeter is down and out for the rest of the post season, the Yankees are going to have to dig deep to come from behind and win the A.L.C.S. if they want to make it into the World Series. The Yankees need to focus on their pitching and the heart of the Yankees batter order is going to have to continue to hit the Tigers pitching staff. The lack of a Derek Jeter in the series has certainly taken some of the wind out of the Yankees sails. Jeter may be down but the Yankees are far from out of this one.
