Lets face it, Chip Kelly could name Matt Barkley as the Eagles starting quarterback. The guy was great in college and the Eagles rookie head coach likes the college style of play. Barkley does some things well and if Kelly were to name him as the team’s starter it would turn some heads.

Last year the NFL saw a number of college quarterbacks start and have great years. A couple of them took their teams to the play offs. Barkley could do the  same, although it is highly unlikely with the way the Eagles defense is looking this season.

Kelly jokingly said he was going to name Barkley as the starter against the Red Skins after practice this week. Was he really joking or was it a slip on his part. I guess we are going to have to wait and see what Kelly’s decision is once the regular season starts.

If Barkley continues to show the rookie head coach the things he wants to see, it wouldn’t be that big of a shock to see him give Barkley the starting position. How bad could the Eagles be with the rookie starting at the QB position? Kelly could always sit him down if things didn’t work out.

If things did work out Kelly would look like a genius. As we get closer to the start of the season, Chip Kelly will have to tip his hand….

The way barkley has looked so far, he’s in a competition with Dixon and Kinne for the #3 QB spot, not starting job.

This is about the dumbest thing I’ve read so far this pre-season. Obviously written by someone without eye-sight/cable TV. Barkley is a few years away from contending for a starting spot. All one has to do is watch him play.
