The Pittsburgh Steelers come into the 2014 draft, with a need to find a corner-back who is ready to play in the NFL. Father time is slowing down Ike Taylor, and this will probably be his last season in Pittsburgh.
The Steelers don’t have a pick until, 15. Will that be high enough to find a guy who is ready to play in the NFL? Many don’t think so and are wondering if the Steelers are in any kind of position to trade up in this years draft. The Steelers currently have the 15th,46th,97th,118th,157th,173rd,192nd,215 and the 203th pick in this years draft.
You can see those picks may not be high enough on the board to get them the kind of player their defense needs. The five best corner-backs in this years draft are, Justin Gilbert, Oklahoma State, Darqueze Dennard, Michigan State, Jason Verrett, TCU, Bradley Roby, Ohio State and Lamarcus Joyner, Florida State.
I can see the Pittsburgh Steelers trying to get their hands on Roby from the Ohio State University. He could be available at the 15th pick. However the Pittsburgh Steelers need another offensive lineman to help protect Ben Roethlisberger who has taken a beating over the past couple of seasons.
The Steelers have plenty of holes to fill and they are one of the NFL teams that believe, you build through the draft. The question for this years draft is, do the Steelers have their building blocks in the right position to get this team what they need this season.
I guess we are going to find out in 2 days……
