Have the Clippers really taken Doc Rivers away from the Boston Celtics? It is hard to say, the NBA still has to sign off on the deal and according to David Stern, the league won’t give this deal its seal of approval.
So for now, we are going to have to wait and see how the league handles this situation. The next question becomes which Celtics players will follow Rivers to L.A.. The original deal would have included Garnet.
Stern stepped up and said there would be no way he would let that deal fly. Now the Celtics are without their coach and it is clear the team is in a major rebuilding year. Who will be the next coach of the Boston Celtics?
Only time will tell, but if Stern doesn’t give this deal the OK, Rivers could be returning to coach the Celtics, even though he has made it clear he has no desire to be in Boston any longer. The NBA is becoming a 3 ring circus act.
First you have players stacking teams like the Heat did now we have teams taking coaches that are under contract to other teams. It will be very interesting to see if this Doc Rivers deal goes through. Stern may find himself defense-less to stop it from taking place.
