So, you wonder who this guy, Steven Bowditch is are ya? He is another Australian born golfer to get a win on the PGA Tour. Bowditch won the Valero Texas Open, by shooting a final round of 4 over par 76.

He turned pro in 2001 and this is his first tour win. Bowditch was able to hold on and collect the 1.116 million dollar first place prize money. He did it by shooting three other rounds that kept him in the tournament.

Bowditch beat a pretty good field that failed to make a move in the Valero Texas Open. This is the second week in a row the PGA Tour turned out a surprise winner.

Bowditch was able to hold off a group of 10 American golfers who were trying to win the open.

He finished only one stroke ahead of second place finisher,Will MacKenzie and Daniel Summerhays who both finished at 7 under par.

You don’t normally see a guy win who shoots a 4 over par final round, but it was Bowditch’s rounds of 69-67 and 68 that enabled him to win his first PGA Tour event in his 13 years on tour.

With the win comes an invite to this years Masters Tournament. Bowditch has to be happy with that. The strong winds that took over the final round of the Texas Open made the playing conditions very difficult.

But Bowditch was able to hold and and now the man from Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia has a chance to play in the Masters.
