Phil Mickelson has always been known on tour as a family man. Many remember the US Open he lost to the late Payne Stewart back in 1999 at Pinehurst Resort, when Phil was carrying a pager for when his wife Amy went into labor with their first child.

Well, that child is graduating from the 8th grade today and Mickelson had no intention of missing it. he left to go back to San Diego to attend his daughters 8th grad graduation and what proud papa with access to a private jet wouldn’t.

Phil has to be back at Merion’s East Course in time for his scheduled tee time. We all know what happens if a player misses his tee time. The one thing Mickelson may not have considered it the weather in the north-east.

There are already severe storm warnings being issued for much of the North East and the power companies are already having meetings to prepare for the worst. Mickelson has got to hope the weather doesn;t delay his arrival back to the US Open. he has an early tee time and he cannot be late.

Here is Phil’s schedule, Takes off from Carlsbad, CA at 8:15 pm PT, lands in Philly at 4:30 am ET. Tee time is 7:11 am. Lets hope the weather isn’t too rough on Mickelson, he is going to have to get some rest before walking 18 holes.

Better yet, lets hope the severe storms expected don’t stop Phil from returning to the US Open.
