LOOK. WHEN IS THE TEXAS RANGERS’ BRAIN TRUST GOING TO GET  IT THROUGH THEIR THICK SKULLS THAT ALEXI OGANDO ISN’T A STARTER? YESTERDAY MARKED THE THIRD TIME THIS SEASON THAT HE’S LANDED ON THE DL.

WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU? SINCE HE’S A RELIEVER BY TRADE, IT TELLS ME THAT HE ISN’T CUT OUT PHYSICALLY TO BE A STARTING PITCHER. EVEN WHEN HEALTHY HE JUST ABOUT NEVER MAKES IT THROUGH  A FULL SIX INNINGS AND ON THE ULTRA-RARE OCCAISIONS WHEN HE DOES, HE GETS SHELLED. BEFORE RON WASHINGTON AND HIS STAFF GOT THE BRIGHT IDEA TO CONVERT HIM INTO A STARTER, ALEXI SERVED AS A LONG RELIEVER, A BRIDGE GUY AND OCCASIONALLY A CLOSER IF NEFTALI FELIZ (ALSO ON THE DL FOR THE SAME REASON AS OGANDO IN MY OPINION) WASN’T AVAILABLE. AND HE WAS PRETTY GOOD IN THAT CAPACITY.

BUT NOW THAT THE RANGERS DECIDED TO FORCE ALEXI INTO STARTING GAMES FOR THEM HIS BODY’S BEGUN FALLING APART—HIS INFLAMED SHOULDER BEING THE LATEST CASE IN POINT. IF WASHINGTON & COMPANY INSIST ON KEEPING OGANDO IN THIS ROLE I THINK THEY’LL END UP BONING THEMSELVES OUT OF A STARTER, A LONG RELIEVER A SET-UP GUY, AND  A POTENTIAL CLOSER, SO HELP ME JOBA CHAMBERLAIN
