The Baltimore Ravens have needs heading into the 2014 NFL draft, and the great Wizard, Ozzie Newsome knows it. The Ravens lost a great player on their offensive line when Michael Oher left in free agency. There is a huge hole to fill in his absence.
Baltimore also has an urgent need for a good safety and a defensive end. Newsome has done a great job as the Ravens GM and he always seems a way to get his man. In this years draft, we have to wonder if Newsome has the fire-power, to fill the holes on this Ravens team.
At the moment, with a day to go, the Ravens own the 17th,48th,79th,99th,134th,175th and the 194th picks. Not taking a player until the 17th pick, you have to wonder if Newsome will make a deal to move up, or if he will stay where he is and take the best possible player with his first pick in the draft.
Newsome is a great evaluator of talent. He played in the NFL and he knows two things about what it takes to play in the NFL. Longevity and dependability. Those lessons came from his playing experience. He has also picked some top-notch talent in his days as the Ravens GM.
Some how, I expect to see Newsome continue to grab talent that can help this Ravens team win. It is going to be interesting come tomorrow night, to see which holes Newsome begins to plug first.
