Mat Latos not only threw one heck of a good game last night against the Pittsburgh Pirates he hit a home run too that helped ensure his Reds would extend their lead in the National League East over the Pirates who have chased the Cincinnati Reds for most of the season. Latos threw exactly 100 pitches in the game and he hit the baseball 379 feet over the left field wall to get his Reds a 3-0 lead over the Pirates. Hey, why not. Your leading the game by only one run you’re pitching great and you need some insurance runs.

The Reds extend their lead over Pittsburgh to 4-1/2 with the win and they are now on a 4 game winning streak. If they can continue to play the kind of baseball they have played all season, they will enjoy post season play. This team is too packed with power not to be there this fall….. With the win last night Lato’s now moves to 10-3 on the season.

Tell us what you think of Lato’s and his Reds, just leave your comments below….
