This was an exciting day at the Players Championship. A very large gallery showed up for the Wednesday practice round.

There were big names playing together like Branden Grace, Rory McIlroy, & Sergio Garcia.

They were fun to follow and all hit irons on the short par 4 # 12 but, out came the drivers for their second attempt.

Lots of players but the green today but the lake on the left side got its share of balls.

I mentioned yesterday that Rickie Fowler told us in his press conference that he may hit irons all 4 days.

I heard a PGA official make a comment today that they will keep the tees up for almost all 4 days to see if many players will go for the green.

Oh speaking of Rickie Fowler, he got a hole in one on #17 today! That young man can play 17 that’s for sure!!

We went to eat lunch yesterday and saw the crowd of people begging Rickie to sign an autograph for them. Walked by 45 minutes later and he was still signing for everybody.

He knows who buys the tickets for these events. He is just an amazing young man and a true gentleman!

I also heard today that no defending champ has ever won the Players….I saw Jason Day today and he is looking healthy and had that winning look on his face.

Maybe this will be the year that curse leaves us.

Wes Bryan was fun to talk to and said how important it was for him to win the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing the week after the Masters. Pressure is off!

Wes and his brother love to set up trick shots and they actually made some money doing them. Asked if the PGA Tour is harder than doing trick shots he said YES the tour is much harder!!

Jordan Spieth of course had one of the longer press conferences. He usually does because EVERYBODY wants a piece of him.

He loves the TifEagle grass that the TPC went to because it is full which makes the chipping areas easier for a change.

It was also announced FedEx renewed a deal for another 10 years and Jordan obviously was happy about that!

He said he enjoyed being #1 but like anything else it is so hard to stay at the top with the talent out there now. But it is nice to only be 23.

He spoke about the new number 12 and he actually lipped out for a 1 and ended up 6 feet from the hole. Caddy Michael told him that was the worst thing that could happen because now he will think he can do it every time.

Jordan also said he hasn’t been happy with his game the last year and a half but, he is working hard everyday to get better.

He loves the strong competition this week with 48 of the top 50 in the world here to compete.

Jon Rahm was an interesting interview too. He was asked why he plays so aggressively and doesn’t he ever want to dial it back a bit?

His answer is yes he has to play smarter and figure the percentages of laying up or blasting the driver.

He said it is a learning process and is learning as he goes.

Personally I hope he maintains that Seve fire and “go for it attitude”. It makes the tournaments so much more exciting.

Speaking of EXCITING, I think this Players Championship will be one for the record books.

Hope you are as excited about this week as I am. Hope your guy wins it all!

Have fun and we will be back tomorrow!!
