The Minnesota Vikings should have brought in Ponder’s replacement at the beginning of the season. Since the threat of being replaced, Ponder has decided to play like a NFL quarterback.
He was off to a great start before he suffered a dislocated shoulder in the 3rd quarter of the game against the Redskins. Ponder wanted to stay in the game, even with the injury.
The team’s trainers popped his shoulder back in place and Ponder thought he could still continue to play. He was 17 of 21 for 174 yards and 2 touchdowns before leaving the game with the injury.
He also rushed for 13 yards and almost scored a touchdown on the play he suffered the injury on. He is turning into one tough quarterback. The threat of losing his job has to have something to do with it.
It’s not clear if Ponder will be ready to go for the Vikings in their next game, he has 10 days to rest his dislocated shoulder and he probably will be ready for the next game.
Adrian Peterson rushed for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns in the game to help the Vikings beat the Redskins 34-27 and get the team’s second win of the season.
Minnesota is now 2-7 on the season and 2-3 at home. Peterson has now rushed for 786 yards this season. He has a long way to go to reach his goal of 2,500 yards.
