The minute we started writing off Tiger Woods, he turns around and shoots the low round of the day, and vaults up the leader-board at the World Golf Championship at Doral.
Woods had the low round of the day. He shot 66 in the 3rd round, and had to be inspired by the 91’7″ putt he made in round 2. Woods is showing no sign of any back pain that forced him out of the Honda Classic last Sunday.
He is only 3 strokes behind the leader, Patrick Reed, who is 4 under par.
Woods made 8 birdies and 2 bogeys in his 3rd round. Everything was working for him at the Blue Monster today. Tiger started off with a birdie on the 1st hole a par five.
Then he pared the 2nd and made birdie on the par 4 3rd. He would then give a stroke back on the par 3 4th, but then got it back with a birdie on the par 4 5th. Tiger wouldn’t have another blemish on the front 9 and made one more birdie on the par 5 8th to make the turn at 3 under par for the day.
He would go onto make a par on the 10th and made back to back birdies on 11 & 12. Tiger was showing he is not ready for the senior tour yet. It was a glimpse of the Tiger of old.
Woods made another bogey on the par 3 13th and then birdied the 15 & 16th after making a par on 14. He pared 17 & 18 and closed out the back with another 3 under par 33 to close his day with a neat little 66.
Woods is in the hunt at the World Golf Championship at Doral, and you can bet the leaders have taken notice.
