You may recall Tiger Woods not being happy about traveling to Sochi, to watch his girlfriend Lindsey Vonn compete in the Olympics. Earlier reports had the two of them going back and forth about Tiger not wanting to travel to show his support for Vonn.
Some thought Woods was being a selfish ass. Others thought maybe Woods was afraid to travel to this part of the world, fearful that he could have enough security.
Well, his worries are now officially over. Lindsey Vonn will not be competing in the Olympics after all. Due to her knee injury, she has pulled out of competition. Vonn is very disappointed that she has to pull out.
Vonn had this to say;
“I am devastated to announce that I will not be able to compete in Sochi. I did everything I possibly could to somehow get strong enough to overcome having no ACL but the reality has sunk in that my knee is just too unstable to compete at this level,”
Then she said this;
“I’m having surgery soon so that I can be ready for the World Championships at home in Vail next February. On a positive note, this means there will be an additional spot so that one of my teammates can go for gold. Thank you all so much for all of the love and support. I will be cheering for all of the Olympians and especially team USA!”
The fight is over. Tiger Woods can now rest easy knowing he doesn’t have to put himself in harms way to support Vonn is her comeback attempt. Her skiing career may be coming to an end and Woods may be the top competitor in the household once again.
