Akron Ohio -Tiger Woods didn’t fare too well today at the Bridgestone Invitational, the tournament he’s won seven times before. Woods started off well, making birdies at hole number 2, 10 and 11. After Tiger Woods made the turn it looked as though he was going to tear up the back nine at Firestone country club, birding two out of the first three holes on the back. the field must have felt Tiger’s presents. Then the wheels started to fall off, Woods………..First round.  Woods would bogey hole number 13, 16 and 18 to finish his First round at even par 70 on the day.

The big story today at the Bridgestone Invitational was the play of Jim Furyk. Low scores were there to be had, and Jim Furyk went out and got himself one. Furyk carded a seven under 63 on his way to the top of the leader-board. Furyk started his first round at the Firestone country club playing the back nine first. Jim Furyk started out with birdies at 10, 11 he would bogey 12, and finished the backside with three straight birdies on 16,17 and 18.

Jim Furyk made the turn at -4, but the big blow came at the second hole where he made Eagle..but he wasn’t finished. He would go on to make a birdie at 4, bogied on 7, and par 8 before finishing his first Round at 7 under par 63.

If Jim Furyk continues to play well tomorrow, Tiger Woods hopes of winning an eighth Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron Ohio,, could all fade away.

Other notables include Lee Slattery at five under par in second place, Bubba Watson, Ben Crane and Luke Donald are tied for third place with three others include John Senden at 4 under par.

Goosen carted off three under par 67, and is in a log jam for fourth place, with eight other players.

Phil Mickelson finished his day at one over par 71.

Just because Tiger is 7 behind doesn’t mean he won’t kick some butt over the next three days. I’ve seen him come from behind and win. Tiger is the greatest and is going to win this weekend.
