Denver Colorado, QB Peyton Manning says he is ready for the opener. The question is are the Denver defensive players ready for the opener. They had a problem stopping the down field passes in the play off game against the Ravens last season, and this year there are several changes with the Broncos defense that may not make it any easier.

We know when the Bronocs lost last season, it wasn’t due to a lack of effort on Manning’s part. He was ready and he put a lot of points on the Board. When the Broncos open the season against the World Champion Ravens, they need to make a statement.

The team needs to show they are back and they are ready to play. The defense has to step it up come Thursday night. They have to get to Flacco with an intense pass rush that will throw him off-balance. If the Broncos can sustain a pass rush over the Ravens offensive line they can control the tempo of this game.

Then Manning can control the pace of play with his on field management. There is no better field general in the history of the NFL than Peyton Manning. If he can control the Broncos offense the way we know he is capable of, the Broncos should have no problem getting the ball into the end while running valuable time off the play clock.

It is going to be up to the Broncos defense to get on and off the field. If they can’t handle the Ravens offense and pressure Flacco, there is very little that Manning can do. They need to keep the ball in their quarterbacks hands.

I predict the Broncos winning this game 35-21……
