Thorbjorn Olesen shot a a fantastic -4 under par 67 today at the PGA in  Charlotte, NC  and leads the field heading into Friday’s 2nd round.

He had to put up with brand new greens that might be the fastest we have seen all season.

I am very anxious to see how they hold up the rest of the week as they continue to dry out, although I hear we may have some weather coming in this weekend.

The course is 500+ yards longer than it ever has been and the crazy greens are all adding up to almost a US Open layout. Not sure if that is good or bad though.

Only one player Chris Stroud, didn’t have a bogey on his card today.

Poor Andrew “Beef” Johnston had to withdraw because of a shoulder injury and only one day after quitting the PGA Tour and going back home to concentrate on the European Tour.

Hope he gets to keep his Arby’s gig. I love commercials with him in them. He really is a real life cartoon. Enjoyed talking with him at Harbour Town.

Two of our favorites, Ernie Els & Phil Mickelson are both celebrating their 100th Major each. That’s amazing, unfortunately more amazing is Phil didn’t even get one birdie!

Phil shot 79 and Ernie shot 80……….unreal right? Well, not really if you saw the course. It is seriously a BEAR. Long, tight, tough Bermuda rough, & new lightning fast greens.

I saw Rory hitting 350 yard drives and still could do no better than a 1 over par 72. That’s exactly what Jordan Spieth shot. He surely didn’t have it going on either.

Watching as closely as I could today was hard because you had super hot weather, guys hitting soaring shots that the greens would not hold.

I mean hit a 180 yard 8 iron so high in the air, that on any other course, would have landed and held like a bird landing with sore feet.

Nope not today……Phil hit so many good shots that would not stop and ending up SLOWLY running off the green into that nasty Bermuda rough or stopping right at the edge of the 1st cut and the shaggy crap.

Toughest shot in golf and only a few made it look easy.

I’m so proud of Rickie Fowler because he started strong and then got a triple bogey. He shook it off and came back and finished -2 under par. Gotta love that Rickie!!

It’s going to be a bloodbath again tomorrow. The cut may be north of +6. OMG can anybody say US Open ?? Well more to talk about it then. Have a great tournament!
