Anyone who has played Firestone’s South course knows it can show its teeth. It did that today at  the Bridgestone World Golf Championships.

Some people came to play but several others got caught up in Firestone’s shuttle nooks and crannies.

Thomas Pieters, didn’t throw a club or get mad, and went around the 18 holes with 5 birdies and 13 pars.

A perfect round in my book. Normally this young hot head from Belgium gets a Little shook up, but today things were different. Nice drives, irons, and great putting ended up with a beautiful 65 on the par 70 track.

Russell Knox was up and down all day with one eagle, 4 birdies, 2 bogeys, and the rest pars. This is what Firestone’s South course can do to you.

A great example is #2 and its wild it’s crazy green. Jordan Spieth hit the par five in 2 shots.

The problem is he putted off the green chipped on for a birdie and left it 5 feet short. Thank goodness he made the putt for his par.

That is what can happen on this course. It is tree-lined with narrow fairways and can really be trouble.

Dustin Johnson blasted a drive over 430 yards today and no one has hit one that long in 6 years on tour. Boy he really is a gorilla!!

Big 6 way tie for 3rd place with Kevin Kisner, Ross Fisher, Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, & Jon Rahm.

It doesn’t seem like Rory is missing his old caddy JP very much but you never know.

It always seems like a divorce when caddies and pros split up…….his side, his side, & the truth. One thing we never seem to find out is the truth!!

I have a terrible habit……I ways look to see who finishes last. JASON DUFFNER….what?? A 76 and not sure why. Duff has played pretty good as of late.

Well not to worry even last place pays $50,000 in this tournament.

How about Miguel Angel Carballo leading the Barracuda Championship in Reno Nevada.

I love this format when you get lots of points for eagles and birdies, etc.

The guy with the most points at the end of the week wins. My boy Richy Werenski is in a tie for 6th after round one and sitting pretty. Go get em Ricky!!!!
