Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin could be up for the AFC Special Teams player of the week award, after he got in the way of Ravens Jacoby Jones’s kick return.
Tomlin said after the game, he didn’t realize how close to the field of play he actually was. He wasn’t close, he was on the field of play. Look at the photo, his right foot was clearly on the field of play.
The referees blew this call. Tomlin should have drawn an unsportsmanlike conduct flag for getting in Jacoby’s way. He would have scored a touchdown had he not had to break his stride to avoid running into Tomlin.
Tomlin said he always watches the kick returns on the jumbo tron. If that is the case than he had to know Jacoby was coming down the sidelines and he was close to him.
How the refs didn’t see this infraction is beyond me and everyone else that watches NFL football. Tomlin knew what he was doing. He got away with cheating.
Not only should he have been flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, the Steelers should have been flagged for 12 men on the field.
The Steelers head coach knows he did wrong. He will never admit to being a cheater and he shows he is a poor sport with his actions. He got away with it this time.
