The much-anticipated return of Derek Jeter is going to be a short one. The Yankees captain was pulled from the game and will be sent to have an MRi on his quad. Jeter is hoping this doesn’t turn out to be a big deal.

He tried telling Yankees manager Joe Girardi that he felt good enough to play on Friday. The club is not going to let that happen until the long time short stop is cleared by the MRI, if he is cleared.

Jeter has missed the entire season with leg problems. His ankle wouldn’t let him start the season and he spent a great deal of time in a walking boot. it looks like time might be running out on the career of the Yankees fan favorite.

At 38-years-old, you have to wonder when Jeter is going to hang up his cleats. His legs aren’t going to let him perform at the level a guy like Jeter is used to. he said, his quad tightened up during his third at-bat, and added he didn’t think this injury came from pushing too hard in his debut.

Jeter has already missed  the first 91 games of the season. Jeter legged out an infield single in the first at bat this afternoon. He then came around and scored. He could have just pushed too hard in his first game back and his quad could have just tightened up.

This is not good news for the Yankee faithful who waited till now to see one of their all time favorites return.
