The New York Yankees and the Curse of the Bambino  beat the Boston Red Sox in the first game of a double-header,the men in pin stripes are were forced to play today. The first game is a make up game from April 22nd. The Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox with a little help from guys like Andruw Jones and Nick Swisher who combined for 5 of the six runs with home run shots. In the first inning Nick Swisher belted a shot over the left field wall to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead over the Red Sox who are still feeling the pain of the curse.

It wasn’t long until Andruw Jones stepped up to the plate and hit the first of his two home runs. Jones hit the second in the fourth inning to put the Yankees on top 5-0 with that blast. The Yankees got some good pitching from Freddy Garcia who got the win today pitching for 6-2/3 innings giving up only one run on six hits with 5 strike outs. The Yankees take on the Red Sox again tonight at 7:05. With the win today Garcia moves to 3-2 on the season and the Yankees move to 51-32 with a six game lead over the Baltimore Orioles.
