The Detroit Tigers got just what Jim Leyland was looking for last night, he got a win out of Justin Verlander and now the Tigers find themselves in a tie for first place in the American League Central. Verlander was able to hold off the White Sox to get a 4-2 win over them and to get his Tigers to the top of the A.L. Central standings tied with the Sox for first place. Verlander now moves to 13-7 on the season and the Tigers have a 3 game series starting today against the Cleveland Indians.

Justin Verlander gave the Tigers 8 solid innings of pitching against the White Sox, he gave up only 1 run on 4 hits and struck out 11 batters. The only run Verlander gave up came off a Alejandro De Aza solo shot in the first inning. Verlander gets stronger as the game goes on and he didn’t give up any more runs and allowed his Tigers to get the 4-2 win over the White Sox. Now that September has arrived the Tigers have finally got to the top of the standings. Will we see them stay there? We could this is when a Jim Leyland type of manager pulls out all the stops.
