Justin Verlander is at it again, he is pitching great baseball. Verlander held the Oakland A’s scoreless as he pitched for 6 shut out innings last night. Verlander struck out 5 and walked three batters on his way to his 15th win this season. Verlander is now 15-8 and the Tigers pull within 2 games of the top spot in the A.L. Central. The Tigers got a little help from the White Sox who lost to the Royals last night.

Leyland has his Tigers fighting to find first place and they are going to have to continue to produce wins to overtake the White Sox. Detroit beat the A’s for the second time in a row last night winning the game 6-2. It would take 3 innings for the Tigers to get on the score board. They did it when Omar Infante doubled and drove in 2 runs then they got their 3rd runs from a Delmon Young sac fly that drove in Infante to take a 3-0 lead. The Tigers would score another run in the 5th, 7th and 8th to beat the A’s 6-2.

The Oakland A’s did try to mount a come back in the game when they scored 2 runs in the 9th off of Jose Valverde who has blown a few save in the 2012 season. Even Jose Valverde can’t blow a 6 run lead you would hope and he didn’t.
