Rajon Rondo goes down for the year with a knee injury. Even though Double-R is a classic, throwback, pass-first point guard playing on a team that’s old, injured and thin, the Celtics have not only gone on a six game winning streak but they’ve piled up more assists and moved the ball better along the way.

Chris Paul, (whose Clippers are as young, deep and talented–with more ways to beat you as any club in basketball) goes down for nine games with a knee bruise and LA goes loses six of them. That says a lot.

I like Rondo a great deal. Glenn Rivers calls him the smartest player he’s ever coached. But CPIII is a cut above Rajon as a lead guard. Accordingly, Mitch Kupchak  and Jerry Buss curse the hour and damn the day that David Stern nixed the trade that would have brought the gifted PG to Tinsel Town before this season began.

So do I…
