Rory McIlroy is no stranger to winning the Honda Classic. This is after all the place he claimed the number ranking in the world, when he won the tournament back in 2012.

McIlroy played well in his 3rd round. He finished the day at 1 under par and is currently 12 under par for the tournament. McIlroy couldn’t find the magic he had in the first 2 rounds, but he played well enough to sleep on the lead.

McIlroy made 3 bogies and 4 birdies in his 3rd round. He has been putting fantastically this week. The first two rounds were clearly his best putting efforts, he only had a 25 putt average the first 2 days.

Today, he had a little problem getting the ball to find the bottom of the 4 inch hole.. He still didn’t let it bother him and looks like the poised player we saw 2 years ago.

McIlroy has a host of players chasing him and this is still any ones tournament. Russell Henley is in second place and Russell Knox is 3rd place 3 strokes back.

Rory is going to have to stay focused if he is going to hold on and win the Honda Classic. Jhonattan Vegas is in fourth place only 4 strokes back and there is a host of players tied for 5th place including Stuart Appleby, Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald just to name of few.

If McIlroy falters at all, this could fall into the hands of any of the guys above.
