Rickie Fowler holds onto a one stroke lead at the Waste Management Phoenix Open after 54 holes.

Moving day didn’t apply to Rickie as he held on to the lead he had after 36 holes! If Rickie can hang on and win it will be the first time he has won a tournament while leading after 36 holes.

Everyone was concerned by the way he started today.

Only 1 birdie on the front side and he didn’t get it til the 8th hole.

He did have a bogey on #4 which put him 3 shots out of the lead at the time.

Fowler just didn’t seem to have the normal fire burning in his belly on the front nine.

In a post round interview Friday he admitted he has had a hard time putting two strong nine’s back to back.

He ended with a 35 on the front which is even par.

The back nine was a completely different story. 5 pars and 4 birdies for a -4 under par 32. This makes 12 rounds in a row playing this course that Rickie has broken 70….amazing stuff.

He finished strong with birdie, birdie, & birdie. How exciting was that.

If you tried to watch the golf tournament on CBS at 4:00 I am sure you were as frustrated as everyone else when the Kentucky basketball game ran over 45 minutes and golf didn’t start til 4:45.

The camera folks missed lot of Rickie’s shots and that certainly made people upset also.

Justin Thomas started out with 6 straight birdies and everybody had him on a “59” watch.

The bogey man hit him on #7 and he shot a 30 on the front nine.

Heading into the back everybody thought we were going to see something exciting happen today.

Well, we did, but not what we expected!! Par on #10, bogeyed #11, par on #12, and a birdie on 13. All fine so far……..then the wheels fell off.

Bogey on 14, triple bogey 8 on 15, double bogey 5 on 16 with a terrible 4 putt, came back with a birdie, & par finish to shoot the CRAZIEST even par 71 that I have ever seen!

I love this tournament, never a boring or dull moment.

We have 3 tied for second Jon Rahm, Chez Reavie, & Bryson De Chambeau.

I love Rickie but Jon Rahm is scary good. We will see tomorrow. Enjoy the Super Bowl. Eagles by 3!!
