It looked as though we might have seen the Retief Goosen of old after yesterdays round at the Transitions Championship. It is very difficult to win golf tournaments while you’re battling on the PGA tour. Goosen has been in terrible pain, just for him to go out and swing a club is amazing. You could see from his start today Goosen was having problems. Retief opened his final round with a double bogey on his first hole. Things didn’t get much better by the time Goosen walked off the second green he added another bogey to his card. Goosen would add three more bogies to his card in the first 15 hole today.

Retief Goosen would fall back to 7 under par after 15 holes and trialed the leaders by 7 at that time. Retief would get birdies and the par 5 11th and he would birdie the par 3 15th to get it to 3 over par on his day with 3 holes left to play. As far as getting himself a win on the PGA tour today, Goosen wasn’t going to be able to do that. Some guys probably wouldn’t have even risked playing this week with the pain Goosen has in his back. In order for Goosen to get back into the winners circle on the Tour, I think he is going to have to have something done to his back. Throughout the history of the game of golf we have seen great players fall to back issues, one that comes to my mind is Fred Couples. Just think of how many wins Fred would have had if it weren’t for his back issues.

We wish Retief all the best and hope we can see him overcome his back issues and get back to playing the caliber of Golf we are use to seeing from Retief Goosen…
