What an incredible day here in Hilton Head Island at the Harbour Town golf club Wednesday Pro Am. Ernie Els teed it up at 7:00 am with a wind chill factor around 37 degrees. Why simply because Jim McNerney the president of Boeing wanted to play early.
That's not the best part he also had in his group Roger Cleveland founder of Cleveland golf, Congressman Jim Clyburn SC, and United States senator from SC Lindsay Graham.
What an impressive group to follow for every brave soul who attempted the feat! It just kept getting better all day both weather wise and Pro Am participants. Tom Watson yes THE Tom Watson is playing in the tournament and he teed it up at 7:30 am.
Slightly warmer maybe a wind chill factor of 40. WOW NOT BAD FOR A 64 year old champion. He was a delight at his press conference and hung around afterwards to talk to everybody.
We saw the likes of Stan Smith the great tennis star and Wimbledon champion played at 8:10. Ever see a Pro Am contestant sign more autographs than his PGA professional? We had it today when the super star football coach from the University of South Carolina Steve Spurrier got teamed up with Russell Henley.
Nothing against Russell Henley because he is a great touring pro BUT the fans would not leave coach Spurrier alone. Autograph after autograph and photo after photo. He graciously abliged each and every person. Good luck next season coach.....
You are a class act! Just when I thought I had seen everything. I mean I was at a PGA tour event Pro Am. Here comes loads of people with baseballs. Didn't take long to see it was the GREAT knuckleballer from the Boston Red Sox TIM WAKEFIELD! I have always been a huge fan and have had the pleasure to meet this fine man a few times but it did my heart good to see him interact with the fans and sign autos and take photos....another class act!
Sir Nick Faldo at his press conference. Best question of the day of course was asked by LG HIMSELF!!!! Looking forward to the tournament just wanted to share some personal experiences today.
