When Charlie Manuel returned to the City of Cleveland this week, he held a press conference to talk about his time with the Indians. Manuel said; he was looking forward to seeing the team that Terry Francona put together this season. Manuel also said he hopes they don’t be his team the Phillies.
Well, Manuel got one of his wishes. He saw first hand the team Francona put together this season. He also saw the Indians offense hammer 2 of the best pitchers the Phillies could throw at them. In the first game the Indians hit Roy Halladay like he was throwing a home run derby in a batting practice.
In the second game the Tribe took advantage of Manuel’s other Cy Young award-winning pitcher Cliff Lee. The Phillies lost to the Indians 14-2 in game one and they were shut out in game 2 6-0. Manuel looked dazed and confused as he watched a red hot Indians offense hit the heck out of his 2 best pitchers.
Manuel got what he asked for, except for the part when he said he hoped they didn’t beat his team. He saw the team Francona put together.
