Philip Humber  got the start for the Chcago White Sox who were looking to avoid getting swept by the Tigers and trying to stop their losing streak. The White Sox have now lost their last five games. Humber didn’t stand a chance today of stopping the Tigers Offense. The White Sox watched as the Detroit Tigers came to the plate in the first inning and took control of the game. By the time the smoke cleared the White Sox would see the Tigers out in front by a score of 3-1.

Humber gave up a two run blast to Quintin Berry, then he gave up another home run to Miguel Cabrera, the Tigers jumped on top quickly in this game. Just as White Sox fans didn’t think things could get worse, Miguel Cabrera returned to the plate in the third inning and Humber watched as one of his pitches sailed over the wall in center field. Humber had a look on his face that told the story, he looked like he would rather be anywhere else in the world besides the pitcher’s mound. Just like that the Tigers were on top of the White Sox 4-1.

The fianl straw came to Humbers day when Brennan Boesch stepped up to the plate and sent one of Humber’s pitches over the right center wall. The White Sox offense tried to battle back by scoring in the 6th and 7th innings, they just could dig their way out of the hole Humber dug for the team today and the Tigers took the sweep and dealt the White Sox their fifth straight loss.

The White Sox who held onto first place for most of the season thus far find themselves a game and a half behind the Tigers in second place. It is safe to say the second half has not been very good to the White Sox.
