Phil Mickelson wins the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship.

It took an extra playoff hole to beat Justin Thomas in a sudden death playoff on the 17th hole.

Phil has not won a PGA Tour event since 2013 when he won the British Open.

He has over 90 starts since his last. You could see in Phil’s eyes and face just how bad he wanted to win today.

He sunk a 19′ putt on #16 for a birdie to get back into a tie for the lead.

Going into #18 it was Phil, Tyrell Hatton, & Justin Thomas all tied up at -16 under par.

Hatton bogeyed and Phil parred to force a sudden death playoff.

Justin Thomas was looking for his second win in a row and 8th win in his last 32 starts.

He got to -16 under the hard way. He knocked in his second shot on #18 for an eagle!

They both looked great heading to #17.

Phil knocked it within make-able distance and JT bashed it over the green.

He said it was a gap wedge and flew over 168 yards.

WOW was he pumped up or what? Justin chipped to within 9′ and Phil two putted while JT missed his par putt and that was that. Phil has his 44th win on the PGA Tour.

Hall of Fame stats for this very worthy Hall of Famer.

This was the 8th playoff since the wrap around season started last year.

8th in 18 events. That’s really amazing. 2018 has really been the year of the playoffs.

Phil was so proud and I thought he was going to cry when he was interviewed after his finish.

I know he is really pumped because this was no ordinary win.

It was a World Championship with 64 of the top players in the world. I am really proud of Phil, it’s been long overdue.

Talking about the top golfers in the world, please tune into the VALSPAR Championship from Palm Harbor Florida. We are going to see Tiger Woods starting his 2 week in a row run.

Tiger is looking at this tournament as a tune up for The Arnold Palmer Invitational.

He has won 8 times at Bay Hill all ready and wants the big #9 next week in Orlando!!!

We are going to see Rory, Sergio, Ernie, and a ton of other top pros at the VALSPAR Championship.
