Phil Mickelson was moving along at the Open Championship today rather smoothly until he had a double bogeyed on the par five 7th. Then the wheels seemed to fall off Phil’s cart, he would bogey the last two holes on the front nine to card a three over par 37. Mickelson had 3 pars, 2 birdies a double bogey and three of bogeys to finish the front nine at 3 over par. In typical Phil Mickelson style he would go on to shoot an even par 36 on the back. The damage was already done and Phil would finish the day tied for 99th place with a host of others.

Phil was looking to turn things around on the back nine and started with a birdie on number ten. That was all he could get going on the back and found one bogey that would lead Mickelson into the club house at three over par. Phil was looking to have a good week at the Open Championship, he came over to play in the Irish Open and played there relatively well. There is just something about the Open Championship that doesn’t  suit Phil’s eye. There is still a lot of golf to be played, no one has their hands around the claret jug yet. Phil could come back tomorrow and shoot a 6 under you just never know what kind of number Mickleson is capable of posting.
