Steelers, Pittsburgh Steelers, what a great tradition in the NFL this franchise has been.  Some say a dynasty others say there is nothing like being a Steeler. The Steelers were founded in 1933 and are the oldest franchise in the A.F.C. The Pittsburgh Steelers have won more Superbowl Titles (6), won more A.F.C. Championship games (8), and played in (fifteen) and hosted more (eleven) conference championship games than any other AFC or NFC team. The Steelers share the record for most Super Bowl appearances with the Dallas Cowboys (eight). The Steelers won their most recent championship, Super Bowl XLIII, on February 1, 2009.

Art Rooney founded the Steelers as the  Pittsburgh Pirates on July 8, 1933.  Rooney took the name from the Baseball team of the same name which was common to do in those times. The Pittsburgh Steelers have remained in the Rooney family since the team was founded. It is no wonder the Steelers are a tradition in the Pittsburgh Area. The Steelers have long been one of the N.F.L.’s flagship teams. The current owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers is Dan Rooney ,Arts son. Dan Rooney has given much of the teams control over to his son Art Rooney II. The Pittsburgh Steelers have a large fanbase whic they call the Steeler Nation and they take their Steelers and Steelers football very seriously.
