The Cleveland Browns were founded in 1945 by  businessman Arthur B. “Mickey” McBride . The Browns were a member of the All American Football Conference. They were coached by the legendary Paul Brown who the team was named after. The Cleveland Browns dominated the AAFC compiling a 45-4  and winning the championship in all four years of the AAFC existence. The Browns along with some other teams joined the N.F.L. when the AAFC decided to merge.  The Browns in their first year in the N.F.L. went on to win the N.F.L. Championship. The Cleveland Browns would go onto to win three more N.F.L. Championships, in 1954,1954and 1964. In 64 the Browns had the Great pairing of Brown and Brown, Paul Brown and The Great Jim Brown.

When the National Football League and the American Football League merged before the 1970 season the Browns would move into the newly formed American Football Conference. While the Cleveland Browns had some success in the 1970’s and the 1980’s reaching the AFC championship game three times, the Cleveland Browns remain one of four teams that have never reached the Superbowl. Even thought the Cleveland Browns have not had the same level of success as other N.F.L. franchised teams, the Browns have some of the most loyal fans of any team in the N.F.L> and enjoy the “Dawg Pound”Art Modell who bought the team in 1961 moved the team to Baltimore in 1995 and renamed them the Ravens when they started to play there in 1996. Modell became one of the most hated men in Cleveland and the fans where ready to have him strung up.

The Cleveland fans would go without a team until 1999 when the new stadium was built and the fans got a new team, Once again the Cleveland Browns would be playing football on the north shore of lake erie. Even though the Browns have not reached the same level of performance they achieved before Modell packed them up and headed to Baltimore, the Cleveland Browns are once again one of the most loved franchises in all of professional sports.
