The best pitcher in Detroit this season wasn’t the guy the team gave a giant contract extension to. It was Max Scherzer who had a season that most pitchers can only dream about. Scherzer was on fire this year.

He got off on a winning streak that doesn’t come around very often. Some people have never seen a streak like this is their life. They have seen it now and Scherzer helped the Tigers go take the crown in the American League Central for the second year in a row.

The Tiger did it with a win over the Twins last night. Scherzer pitched for 7 innings and he only gave up 2 hits and did not surrender a run. He has had an unbelievable season. The guy was on fire and if he can pitch like this throughout the play-offs the Tigers are going to be a hard team to stop this season.

Detroit earned the 1-0 win over the Twins on a Torii Hunter single that drove in Austin Jackson in the first inning. Other than that the Tigers offense could get anything going. It was OK because they had Scherzer on the mound and he doesn’t give up too much wither.

Congratulations to Max Scherzer for having one heck of a great season.
