Matthew Stafford has to do a better job of getting the football to his players. The Lions lost to the Baltimore Ravens by 2 points, falling 18-16. Stafford threw 3 interceptions in a game the Lions had to win to stay in the hunt for a play off spot.
The Lions are just a game behind the Bears and are in a tie with the Packers in the NFC North. The Lions at 7-7 are running out of opportunities to make the play-offs. Stafford as good as he is, is still struggling to get the job done.
He only completed 18 of his 34 passing attempts and came away from the game with only a 48.0 rating. That’s terrible. He has to do better than that, he is capable of doing better than that, but the turnovers are killing him.
Stafford had one touchdown pass in the game and 3 turn-overs. How can he get a win with numbers like those? The Lions got 86 rushing yards from Reggie Bush and Bell added another 24 yards.
Calvin Johnson was targeted 14 times in the game and only came away with 6 catches for 98 yards. How can you win when your team is producing numbers like these?
The Lions defense only got to Flacco once in the game. They hit him 6 times but only sacked him once. With just 2 games left this season the NFC North is going to be interesting to watch. Stafford has to do a better job than this, if Detroit is going to find their way to the post season.
