What happened to Matthew Stafford and his Detroit Lions team? They still can’t find a way to return to winning football games. Maybe it is all the off-season antics that have cost the Lions a chance to return to the football field and pick up where they left off last season. The Lions are now 2-4 on the season and have lost 3 of the 4 road game they have played in. Stafford is struggling and last night his struggles continued. Stafford threw the ball 46 times only completing 28 passes for 261 yards and 1 touchdown, not the same kind of numbers we saw him post in 2011.
The Lions defense couldn’t stop the Chicago Bears from controlling the pace of the game by running the ball all over the Lions. The Bears rushed for 171 yards on the ground. The Bears took the game 13-7 in what was one of the most boring football games I have seen this season. The Lions didn’t bring any excitement to the game at all. The Lions have to find out what their problems are and get back to playing the kind of football it takes to put some wins on the board.
Just look at the performance Ndamukong Suh had one tackle in a game where the Bears rushed the ball for 171 yards. The highlight of Suh’s night was the big hit he put on the Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. Some thought it was a dirty hit but it wasn’t, it was a good clean hit well within the rules and the rest of the Lions defense have got to find a way to pick up their game. The Lions are in for a long season this year if they cant find a way to get back to winning football games.
