Dazed, confused and lost. These are the words that come to mind in describing Matthew Stafford and his Detroit Lions football team in their preseason game in Cleveland last night. If Stafford can’t pick up his performance level the Lions are in for another disappointing season.
Stafford needs to become a leader. His performance stunk last night. Stafford has a big arm, we didn’t see it last night and he only completed 11 passes out of the 16 he threw for 74 yards. He looked terrible and with the season only 2 weeks away, he has a lot of work to do.
The entire Detroit offense needs to pick up their performance. The Lions finished the 2012 regular season at 4-12 and they are heading back in that direction if they continue to play the way they played last night.
Stafford didn’t produce one big play in the game. That is very disappointing for a guy with an arm like his. Somehow the Lions need to regroup and start turning their focus to producing a game plan that works.
It starts with the coaching staff. They have to come up with plays that utilize Stafford’s arm. The way he looked last night is unacceptable. The Lions coaching staff has to share the blame for this loss. Even though it is preseason the Detroit Lions aren’t showing anything that would get their fans excited.
Something has to change and it has to change within the next 2 weeks.
