As you can imagine Matt Kuchar was all smiles, after holing out a bunker shot to win the 2014 46th edition of the RBC Heritage, held at Harbor Town Golf Links. When he started his 4th round he knew he had to make a move to climb the leader board.

The course was softened by all the rain that fell throughout the week. There were birdies out there for the taking and Matt Kuchar did just that. He shot a spectacular final round of 64, and he took the win right out of Luke Donald’s grasp.

When Kuchar came to the 18th tee, he was in a tie with Donald. It looked as there might be a play-off, but not after Kuchar hit his bunker shot to take a one stroke lead. Donald still had a chance to force a play-off, but he hit a terrible approach shot that didn’t even find the 18th green.

The plaid jacket belonged to Kuchar. He is one of the most consistent guys on the PGA Tour and he certainly played his heart out on Sunday to take this win.  Kuchar made 6 birdies in the front 9 in his final round and only on on the back nine before his fantastic finish on the 18th.

He went to the 17th tee, with a one stroke lead, but lost it when he made his only bogey of the day. When he got to the 18th tee, he looked to have shaken off the bogey on 17. He hit a good drive then found the bunker in front of the 18th green on his 2nd shot. He hit a great shot out of the sand that found the bottom of the hole, and all he could do on this Easter Sunday was sit in the clubhouse and wait.

It didn’t take long to see that famous Kuchar smile appear from the club house to claim the plaid jacket and take the title of being the 2014 RBC Heritage champion. It couldn’t have went to a nicer guy. Congratulations to Matt Kuchar.
