Louie Oosthuizen fired a spectacular bogey free round of 66 today at the Players Championship . The man with the nicest swing in golf had it dialed in for round 2.

Louie has played the Players Championship 7 times and has not been able to do better than a t13 back in 2013.

Louie has won around the world and most notably the 2010 British Open at St. Andrews and by a whopping 7 shots.

Little known fact about this fine South African is that he actually has a guy travel around from tournament to tournament with his mattress.

Yep you heard it right. Louie has a very temperamental back and if he is not sleeping on his own mattress then he is looking for trouble. Where do you sign up for that job??

Kyle Stanley closed with birds on 7 & 9 to get to -9 under and be tied for first place with Louie. This is Kyle’s 4th start and best finish so far is t33.

Anybody who knows me knows I am totally pulling for Louie to win. He has been my favorite golfer from the first day I met him.

He has a good chance but several golfers are right behind him.

JB Holmes was in a tie for the lead but a couple bogies near the end of his round has put him 2 shots out of the lead.

The big story of course is VJ Singh who is in 4th place only 3 strokes out of the lead.

VJ is, of course, over 50 and can play on the Champions Tour but he still feels he can compete on the regular PGA Tour.

This is his home course so he may have a little advantage over the rest of the field but you just never know what is going to happen.

Speaking of what’s happening…….how about all those balls in the water on #17 today?

My goodness it got ugly with one group all hitting in the water, Jim Furyk missed the cut because of 2 balls in the water, & poor Zac Blair hit 3 in the water.

It was a crazy day with the wind in their faces by the tee box but blowing to the side near the green.

I had forgotten to mention that they moved some of the sky boxes back to give patrons more room to stand but, they built a bunch more and that effects the wind!

These guys are really having a tough job playing the 17th.

As far as the fans go all I can relate this to is a Daytona 500 race where people are waiting for a wreck to happen.

On 17 the wrecks are all the balls that are hit into the water. 19 balls on Thursday and 29 balls were hit in the water on Friday.

My most shocking stat would be how few players went for the newly designed #12. Only 26 on Thursday and 39 on Friday.

Of the 39 that went for it Friday only 9 hit the green and Luke List recorded the first eagle sinking a 15′ putt.

Saturday and Sunday it will be on NBC 2-7pm. Enjoy this 5th Major, it’s going to be a blast!!!
