For PGA golfer Kevin Streelman 13 may be a lucky number, as in 2013. Streelman finally broke through and claimed his first PGA tour by winning the Tampa Bay Championship by 2 strokes yesterday. Streelman was able to pull off 2 birdies on the back nine to give himself a 2 stroke lead over Boo Weekley who was waiting inside the clubhouse at 8 under par hoping for a play off.
Streelman had other ideas, the man who has played on the PGA tour since 2001 made birdie in the par 3 13th to pull ahead of Weekley by one stroke just knew if he could get through the final 3 holes on the day he would claim the Championship. Streelman then made another birdie on the 17th hole another par 3 to give himself a 2 stroke lead with only one hole to play.
With his first win on the tour Streelman claimed the first place check for 990,000 dollars. It was his first PGA tour career win and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. The last time Streelman won a large sum of money he paid off family members homes and gave a huge sum of money to his parents.
