Just when the Detroit Tigers needed an outstanding performance to move into the ALCS, Justin Verlander delivered one. He was Unstoppable on the mound last night. He pitched for 8 inning and only gave up 2 hits to the team that made hitting a huge part of their season.

Verlander struck out 10 and only walked one on his 8 innings of work. The Tigers scored 3 runs as they shut out the Oakland A’s. Miguel Cabrera hit a two run blast in the 4th and the Tigers second baseman Omar Infante drove in a run in the 6th on a fielders choice.

The Tigers now move on to play the Boston Red Sox. They could be on their way to the World Series for the second year in a row if their pitching can continue to perform the way they have in the series against the A’s.

Verlander and Max Scherzer both came up huge for Jim Leyland when they had to. The Tigers are a great team because they have two great pitchers that can deliver the goods when the team is in a pinch.

We saw Scherzer help extend the series against the A’s by coming in with the bases loaded and getting Detroit out of trouble and now we have just seen the Justin Verlander of old.
