Saturday at the Masters played on the Augusta National Golf Course, is called “moving day” for a reason, and in this 3rd round they proved it!
Justin Rose fired a dazzling -5 under par 67 to move into a tie with Sergio Garcia.
Sergio came in with both guns blazing but cooled off a bit towards the end of the first nine holes. The back nine was marvelous with 7 pars and 2 birdies.
These 2 superstars are tied at -6 under par after 3 TOUGH rounds at Augusta National.
Thursday & Friday featured windy days and cold temperatures.
Saturday proved to be an almost perfect day weather-wise. Sunday is predicted to be even nicer.
It is hard to understand how Charley Hoffman can come out in horrible weather Thursday and lead with a 65 when in near perfect conditions he shoots a 72?
The truth is these are the greatest golfers in the world and they are all capable of going low on any given day and in any type of weather.
I really expect some low scores Sunday!
The only thing is where they want the pins placed. The Masters officials must open a bottle of 20-year-old scotch, drink it all, and then decide where the pins will go on Sunday.
This is the most amazing course I have ever seen. Most holes have 4 distinct spots to put the pin and it is incredible how small the landing areas near the pins are.
If you do not put the ball in the landing area, often 5’x5′ your ball will roll practically off the green, and you may have a 60 foot putt back up a hill with 3 breaks.
It really is unbelievable. I wish you could see the contours of these greens better in tv. It’s amazing.
I say it almost every week that the cream always rises to the top.
Well this tournament is living proof that is a true statement!
Check these 2 some s going out starting at 1:45 Sunday…Matt Kuchar & Rory McIlroy, 1:55…Paul Casey & Soren Kjeldsen, 2:05….Thomas Pieters & Lee Westwood, 2:15…Charl Schwartzel & Adam Scott, 2:25…Charley Hoffman & Ryan Moore, 2:35….Rickie Fowler & Jordan Spieth, 2:45…Sergio Garcia & Justin Rose.
Out of these 14 players you have Major Champions including 3 past Masters winners, Open Champs, and Players Champions, etc., etc.
These guys are the real deal. The ratings for Sunday afternoon on CBS this year is going thru the roof!
Maybe the greatest group of Champions ever lumped together at the end of a Masters tournament.
In my heart I am thinking a prior Masters champ will come thru again because they all know what it takes to win there BECAUSE they have done it before.
My only problem with that is our US OPEN Champion and gold medalist from the Olympics is tied for first place.
I love to predict a winner as much as anybody else but like I said yesterday I see so much talent at the top, specifically these 14 guys, and one of them can win.
The bottom line is we are in for a slug fest Sunday afternoon and only one guy can be given the green jacket to slip on.
I know there is one that is Justin Rose’s size but Sergio is going to come out fighting!
Have fun watching and enjoy the final round of the Masters just like I will.
