Jason Day captures the winners trophy at the Farmers Insurance Open.

It took til Monday morning because of a sudden death playoff that had to be extended until the morning because they ran out of sunlight.

3 players tied for the lead…Jason Day, Alex Noren, & Ryan Palmer. Palmer was eliminated after the first playoff hole.

Day and Noren took 5 more to get the job done.

On the final playoff hole Day hit his drive way to the right and had some Torrey Pines in his way.

Noren was sitting pretty in the first cut in the left side of the hole.

Noren hit his second shot within one foot of being perfect, but it backed up into the water.

That meant the door was wide open for Jason Day.

He laid up his second shot to gap wedge range and proceeded to his 3rd to within 18″ and that’s when the “Fat Lady Started to sing”!

Noren could do no better that a bogey 6 and Jason tapped his in for a birdie 4 to capture his second Farmers Insurance Open.

That puts him in a pretty strong group of golfers who have won this tournament more than once.

Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, Tiger Woods just to name a few.

This was Jason Day’s 11th PGA Tour win and let’s us all know that he is back.

He admitted in his post round interview that last year was not a good year. Both his health and his mom’s health affected him greatly!

Tiger Woods was all smiles after Sunday’s round as he finished in a tie for 23rd.

He only his 30% of his fairways and that is something he needs to work on badly.

He was so happy with his short game play and putting was like the Tiger of old…….not Old Tiger.

His interview with Dottie Pepper was all smiles and VERY positive.

Signing autographs and being warm and friendly. Who knows maybe we are seeing a kinder, gentler Tiger Woods.

I for one certainly hope so!

Join us next week when we cover the craziest of crazy tournaments with the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
