The Pittsburgh Pirates have a game changer in Andrew McCutchen, since May McCutchen has been hitting lights-out. This guy has 5 games this season with 4 or more hits, that kind of hitting is Un-heard of. He has a real opportunity to finish the season with a 300/.400/.600. We are barley at the half way point of the season and McCuthchen is hitting .377 with an on-base percentage of .430 and a slugging average of .698. since May.

For the Reds, Joey Votto puts up numbers similar to those of McCutchen’s. Votto is one guy that makes a difference in the Reds line-up. Joey Votto is sitting at .350/471/632 now. The Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates could be battling for the N.L. East through the entire 2012 season if these two guys stay healthy. It will be very interesting to see which team comes out on top. The Reds have great pitchers too. The Reds pitching staff has kept them in a lot of games this season. The Pirates staff is made up of some great pitchers too. It may come down to Votto and McCutchen’s will to win.

The National League East is going to watch in the second half. I know I will be keeping my eyes on the Reds and the Pirates.
