As in Hunter Mahan who walk away the winner today at the Shell Houston open. So many guys needed this win including Ernie Els who wanted to post a win to gain an invite to the Masters which takes place this coming week. Hunter Mahan was to much to handle as he posted a one under par final round 71 to go with his 7 under 65 he shot yesterday to give him a 16 under par total to beat Carl Pettersson by just one stroke. Mahan had a tough day out there today, so did guys like Louis Oosthuizen who posted a 3 over par 75 today to hand the tournament over to Mahan.

Phil Mickelson shot a one under par 71 today to post a 12 under par total and a share of 4th place with three other guys. The story of the week however could be Ernie Els who came into the Shell Houston Open with hopes of a win to gain that Masters invitation he so wanted to have. Yes Ernie played some good golf and finished the tournament at 10 under par and tied for 12th with Pat Perez, the problem is, it just isn’t good enough to get Els that invite to a tournament he wanted to win maybe more than any other, The Masters.  Time could be running out for the Big Easy as his age may take him past his prime and he may never get a chance to win the Masters if he can’t get back to Augusta to compete in the tournament.

Congratulations to Hunter Mahan for his win today of the Shell Houston Open.
