There is a reason that the New England Patriots put the franchise tag on Wes Welker in 2012. The guy is that good and he was worth keeping at 9.515 million in 2012. Now he is listed as the 4th most valuable free agent this off-season. Welker had 118 receptions in 2012 for 1,354 yards and 6 touchdowns. The question the New England front office has to be considering this time around, is how much is too much. How much is a guy like Wes Welker really worth to the New England Patriots?

Welker has always been a top receiver for the Patriots and I am sure wherever Welker goes he would be a valuable receiver. The guy has played in the NFL for 9 season and still shows no signs of slowing down. His production could be attributed to working with Tom Brady. The Patriots quarterback has always depended on Welker to  be there for him. If the Patriots do resign Welker they have to come up with a deal that will let him finish his career with the Patriots. That kind of deal is going to come with a hefty price tag.
