The odds makers must be taking the elbow injury into account when it comes to Tiger Woods being the favorite to win this year Open Championship. Woods had to sit out of the tournament that benefits the Tiger Woods foundation and he has not been playing much at all lately.

On the other hand golfer Graeme McDowell  is playing red-hot golf and he is peaking just in time for many to have him as this years favorite. McDowell has won 3 times this year. His latest victory came Sunday when he claimed the French Open. McDowell is now taking many by surprise this season.

If Woods is bothered by his sore left elbow, you have to consider McDowell to win. He is just to good of a player in the majors and he has a great chance to prove it at the Open Championship. One senior writer for Sports Illustrated has said McDowell is as good as anyone to win this years Open Championship.

He really doesn’t see any clear cut favorite and the elbow injury that Woods has nursed, could be the reason that people are thinking this way. Not only has Tiger been hampered by injury, his putter has let him down n the last couple of events he has played in.

If Woods comes into the Open Championship not as the favorite, it will be the first major in a long time that doesn’t favor Tiger. I like Graeme McDowell’s chances too.
