When the Pittsburgh Steelers signed Lance Moore to a 2 year deal, it was out of necessity. The Steelers needed to replace Jerricho Cotchery, but you have to wonder if Moore will build the chemistry with Roethlisberger, that will help the Steelers return to their glory days.
Moore hasn’t been an impact receiver. He has good hands and he can catch the football, there is no doubt about that. Last season he caught 37 passes for 457 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games.
That isn’t much when you consider the role of the wide receiver in today’s NFL. The Steelers are still in need of the offensive play-maker that will get the team back to the play-offs.
The last 2 season have been miserable for the Steelers and Big Ben. Roethlisberger is running out of time in his NFL career and the Steelers need to get him the guys who can make a huge impact for the Steelers.
Moore will help the situation in Pittsburgh, but he is far from the answer this team is looking for. The Steelers have to be smart in this years draft and taking an offensive line-man that will keep Roethlisberger protected should be high on the Steelers list.
If Ben takes the beating he took over the past 2 seasons, the Steelers have failed in the draft. The team needs to protect Ben, and they need to get some big play-makers too.
Moore will help, but he isn’t the answer this team needs.
