Has Dick LeBeau lost a step or two? If you’re being honest your answer would be yes. The Steelers defense is doing very little to help the tam win. LeBeau is 76-years-old and he isn’t what he used to be.
His defense is ranked 12th in total defense giving up 341.2 yards per game and 5.4 yards per play on average this season. This is not the kind of defense the Steelers put n the field year after year.
A younger LeBeau would have figured out a way to stop the slaughter that is taking place against the Steelers. LeBeau is watching helplessly as his Steelers lose most weeks. Something has to be done with the way the defense is performing or not performing to put it bluntly.
All good things come to an end. For LeBeau, his end has to be near. He can’t get his defense to win games the way he once did. The Steelers are the worst team in the AFC North and Lebeau has to realize his unit is where the problem is.
There is no better example of how poorly LeBeau’s defense is playing than the beating they took at the hands of the Patriots. A LeBeau lead defense would have never given up 55 points when he was in his heyday.
Unfortunate for the Steelers that they stuck with LeBeau for this long. His age has to have something to do with the serious decline in the Steelers defensive performance. LeBeau has to be slowing down, it happens to all of us and for him to watch his defense perform the way they are, he has to feel the pain.
Why prolong it any longer. He should realize what’s happening and step aside.
